Erna Martin Isaacs

Erna Mae Martin Isaacs, 96, of Reedy Spring Road, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clifford Isaacs.

Born in Campbell County, Va., on October 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Emma Catherine Bowen and Robert Lynch Martin. She was a long time member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and worked during the depression for Blue Buckle Garment Co.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Gayle Isaacs Grishaw and husband, Roger of Spout Spring; three grandchildren and their families, Gayle Grishaw Knapp and husband, Charlie and their daughter, Devon and fiancé, Danny all of Burkeville; Angela Grishaw Dill and husband, Michael of Madison Heights and their children, Cody Maddox and wife, Samantha and daughter, Alexis Kate all of Appomattox and Dustin Tyler Maddox serving in the US Navy; and Mark Roger Grishaw and wife, Brandy and their children, Kandace Ehrhorn and husband, Ted and Destiny Grishaw all of Madison Heights. She is also survived by two sisters, Katie Martin Goff and husband, Clarence of Rustburg and Emma (Patty) Martin Hodnett and husband, Frank of Long Island; a brother, Hubert C. Martin of Gladys; a brother-in-law, Raymond D. Isaacs of Gladys; and very good friends, Dewey and Ann Woods.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lee "Junior" Martin and William Lewis (Bill) Martin; a sister, Bernice Isaacs; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Profitt Martin and Doris Blevins Martin; and a brother-in-law, John Taylor Isaacs.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018, at New Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jonathan Falwell and the Rev. David Heerspink with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Following the service you are invited to the home of her daughter for a time of fellowship.
