Ennis Garland Childress, 93, of Appomattox, died May 5, 2010, in Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Edna Childress.
Born in Appomattox County, on April 23, 1917, he was a son of the late Bell G. and Thomas Ennis Childress. He was a retired superintendent for Rosecroft Race Track in Oxon Hill, MD.
Ennis is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Farson and husband, Alan of Ft. Washington, MD; a son, Fred Childress and wife, Sandra of Manassas; a half-sister, Lois C. Goin; three grandchildren, Lori A. Clow, Michael Clow, and Brian Childress; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Mabel Rutherford Childress.
Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
