Emma Garrett Norcross, 90, of Appomattox, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 in Appomattox Health and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Walter Norcross.
Born in Appomattox Co., Va., on April 291926, she was a daughter of the late Queen Victoria Harris and William Fletcher Garrett. She was a retired seamstress for Courtland Manufacturing and a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the WMU.
She is survived by two sons, William "Billy" C. Norcross and wife, Kathy of Union, Miss, and Walter L. Norcross and wife, Maurine of Summerville, S.C.; a brother, Nathan Garrett and wife, Nelda of Appomattox; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gracie Lucado and three brothers, Berkley, Leonard, and Alfred Garrett.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Barker officiating. A private burial will take place in the church cemetery following the service. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the start of the service.
