Mrs. Emma M. Braund, 87, of Concord, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Amherst County, VA, on July 29, 1923, she was a daughter of the late W. Melvin and May Martin Carson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Carson. Mrs. Braund was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Concord. She was retired from the Federal Government after 30 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy King (James); granddaughter, Pamela King all of Partlow, VA; two brothers, Hubert Carson (Betty), Richard Carson (Mazie) all of Concord; one sister, Ruth MacMillan of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Trudy Robertson of Jackson, WY, Hubert Carson, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Robert Carson of Bozeman, MT, Sylvia Carson of Richmond, and Janet Schnablegger of Concord and their families.
The family would like to express their appreciation to her faithful caregivers Wendy Driskill, Martha Carter, and Frances Thorne.
Funeral services will be held 2:00p.m., on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Concord by Pastor Dan Dibble with burial following in Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 15, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox and other times at the residence.
