Emily Blanche Moore Phelps, 95, of Appomattox, went home to be with her Lord and Savior with her family be her side on Saturday, January 16, 2010 .
Born in Appomattox County, March 16, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Americus Cornelius Moore and Francis Burge Moore. Blanche was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Young Hearts Club. She retired after 32 years of service from the Appomattox Garment Factory.
She is survived by her children; Howard and Betty Phelps of Appomattox, Gerald and Eva Phelps of Virginia Beach, Emily and Ronnie Mitchell of Red House, Patricia and Herman Evans Jr., of Brookneal, Elmer and Beverly Phelps, Linda and Danny Rogers, Arnold Phelps, Bonnie and Doug Deters and Connie and Richard Fortin Jr., all of Appomattox; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Enid Millard Phelps; granddaughter, Lisa Annette Rogers, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Thorne and the Rev. David Camden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30pm today (Monday) at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church and other times at her residence.

Blanche had many talents. She was a carpenter, gardener, seamstress, and a wonderful cook. But most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by her family and many friends.
