Obituary

Concord: Elva Keesee King, 88, of 43 Midgett Farm Road, died Sunday morning September 17, 2006. She was the wife of the late Clyde Evans King.
Born in Campbell County, September 20, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Pierce, Sr. and Miranda Martin Keesee. Elva was a Charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, a retired Concord Postal Clerk with 20 years of service, a former school bus driver for Campbell County, and at one time worked at the Lynchburg Hosiery Mill. Mrs. King was an active member of her church and community.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Jeanette King of Madison Heights; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patrice (Agnes) and Ken Thames of Asheboro, NC, and Delores (Dee) Jones of Concord; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy J. and Wilma Keesee of Prince George; a sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Filmore Tweedy of Concord; ten grandchildren, Tracy Olivas and her husband Josh, Matt Guthrie and his wife Sarah, Michael Thames and his wife Anita, Daniel Thames and his wife Dana, Lisa Ellington and her husband Robert, Ashley Gobble, Brandy King, Zach King, Melissa Ramsey and her husband Matt, and Bryan Carson; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Evans, Taylor Guthrie, Katie Ellington, Stella Ramsey; a sister-in-law Gladys King Godsey and her husband Demp, and two special friends Genell Bass and Marion Litchford.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Meadows and the staff of Runk and Pratt Residential Adult Care for the care provided to their mother.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Casper and the Rev. Wilis Switzer with burial to follow in Concord Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Monday, September 18, 2006, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, and other times at her home.
