Concord: Elsie Louise Eagle Phelps, 92, died Monday, January 8, 2007 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Horace Alvin Phelps.
Born in Appomattox County, November 16, 1914, she was a daughter of the late David William and Lula Godsey Eagle. Louise was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as church caretaker for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin David and Helen Phelps, Lawrence Wayne and Nancy Phelps all of Concord; three granddaughters, Karen and Mike Blankenship of Fayetteville, NC, Laura J. and Tim Garrison of Concord, Lisa B. and Robert Richards of Rustburg; four great grandchildren, Zachary Wright, Michaela Blankenship, Miranda Blankenship, and Kaylee Garrison; five brothers, C. Lyle Eagle, Julian B. Eagle, Bobby Eagle all of Appomattox and Andrew L. Eagle and Wiley E. Eagle both of Lynchburg; two sisters, Mary E. Bohannon of Appomattox and Alice Sale of Lynchburg and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tony Phelps; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held11:00 am, Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Thorne with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the homes of Alvin Phelps and Wayne Phelps.
