Elsie Moore Burks, 72, of Appomattox, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at her residence after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was the wife of Jack Wayne Burks.
Elsie was born in Appomattox, on January 30, 1939, a daughter of Jesse Clyde and Katherine Martin Moore. She was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a loyal employee of Central Fidelity Bank for 39 years.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Kenneth Wayne Burks and his wife, Bonnie; three granddaughters, Callan, Kristen, and Kasey Burks; her sisters, Jean LeGrand and Myrtle White and her husband, Clarence; and four nieces, Marty Moore, Sharon White, Susan King, and Kathy Watkins.
The family would like to thank Centra Hospice of Farmville and all the ladies who provided her care; Nancy Terry, Nancy Woody, Candy Quispe, Wendy Canada, Liz Fitch, and Jane Perdue.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
