Obituary
Elsie Barley, 88, of Evington, died Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Medical Care Center.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. (Bob) and Barbara Brown of Lynchburg; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Michael Ray and Donna Brown and their children, Kristen and Garrett of Rincon, GA and Craig E. and Martha Brown and their children, Marshall, Emily, and Julie of Forest; and a brother, Jessie Johnson of Appomattox.
Elsie was born in Appomattox County, on August 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Wesley and Allie Mann Johnson. She was a retired nurse's aide with the Central Virginia Training School.
The body will lie in state at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox and the family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Wed. one hour prior to the service. A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Loren Mitchell.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at the Medical Care Center for their loving care of Elsie.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department, 1645 Thomas Jefferson Rd., Forest, VA 24551.
