Eloise Moore Martin, 83, of Gladstone, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long and courageous battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 21 years. She was the devoted wife of 64 years to Graydon C. (G.C.) Martin
Born November 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Flossie Phelps Moore and Walter Bass Moore of Gladstone. She was a homemaker and lifetime member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church. One of Mrs. Martin's greatest joys was to share her delicious homemade rolls, her homemade butter mints which she made for many weddings, anniversaries and showers; her homemade strawberry preserves which were her husband's favorite, and her homemade sweet pickles.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are a loving and devoted sister, Jean Nash of Appomattox, a beloved and dedicated niece, Carolyn N. Thompson and husband, Billy of Spout Spring; a great-niece Angela T. Sutton and husband, Eric of Charlotte, NC; a great-nephew, Rodney L. Thompson of Bedford; two great-great nephews, Ryan and Reid Sutton of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews by marriage.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery at Mt. Comfort.
The family will receive friends and family at the home of Jean Nash, 113 Annie Street, Appomattox.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care shown to Eloise over the past three years. A very special thank you to Sherri Adams, in the P.T. department, for her special friendship to Eloise and for her loving care.
Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Eloise.
"Up in heaven, I'm gonna walk just like you, I'll see all of my friends in Hallelujah Square, what a wonderful time we'll all have up there- we'll sing and praise Jesus his glory to share, and you'll not see one cripple in Hallelujah Square." From her favorite song, "Hallelujah Square."
