Elmina Barlow Guill, 92, of Church Street, Appomattox died Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late James (Joe) Alfred Guill.
Born in Appomattox County, on September 29, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Vane and Mattie Pearl Gunter Barlow. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from Amelia Dress Company.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda G. Overton and her husband, Wyatt Lee, Sr. of Farmville and Mary Margaret (Twink) Guill of Appomattox; a son, Edward D. (Pete) Guill and his wife, Maxine of Appomattox: a sister, Nina B. Beasley of Appomattox; seven grandchildren, Wyatt (Chippy) Overton, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Margaret (Cissy) O. and her husband, Dr. Jack A. Coleman, Dennis Ray Guill, Joe D. Guill and wife, Stephanie, James A. (Jamie) Overton and his wife, Tanya, Kellie E. Gallier and her husband, James, Lindsay E. Melvin and her husband, Josh; 14 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and two special caregivers, Pebbles and Susan with Appomattox Home Recovery.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Edward Donald (Don) Guill; two, brothers, Warren and Fred Barlow; and a sister, Aldah Gordon.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Rusty Small with burial following in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 and other times at the home of her sister Nina Beasley, 4509 Pumping Station Rd., Appomattox.
