Obituary

Elmer Millard Phelps, 68, of Spring Grove Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2014 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Beverly Winston Phelps.

Elmer was born on August 8, 1945, in Appomattox County, a son of the late Emily Blanche Moore and Enid Millard Phelps. He was a retired employee of Babcock & Wilcox, a member of Hebron Baptist Church and served his country in Vietnam as a proud member of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by two daughters, Dawn P. Martin and husband Bucky of Spout Spring and Angela P. Wolfe and husband Lee of Salem; six grandchildren, Kirsten, Morgan and Lathan Doss of Spout Spring, Grey, Addison and Winston Wolfe of Salem; three brothers Howard Phelps and his wife Betty of Appomattox, Gerald Phelps and his wife Eva of Virginia Beach, Arnold Phelps of Appomattox; five sisters, Emily Mitchell and husband Ronnie of Red House, Patricia Evans and husband Herman of Brookneal, Linda Rogers and husband Danny, Bonnie Deters and husband Doug, and Connie Fortin and husband Richard all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Hebron Baptist Church by Reverend Wayne Lanham and Lewis "Butch" Wood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
