Elizabeth Hanenkrat Woody, 80, of Plant Drive, Appomattox, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Carl Douglas Woody.

Born in Appomattox, Va., on November 24, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Clara Cawthon Hanenkrat and the late Charles F. Hanenkrat. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired as the accountant for Consolidated Shoe.

She is survived by two sons, C. Alan Woody and wife, Caroline of Gunter, Texas and Douglas Woody and wife, Carol of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren, J. D. Woody, Caitlin Woody, and Ricky Hall; two sisters, Dorothy H. Wallace of Appomattox and Inez H. White and husband, R. S. of Winston Salem, NC; one brother, Thomas W. Hanenkrat and Sharon Newel of Lawrence, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, James F.(Fred) and Doll Hanenkrat; a sister-in-law, Pal D. Hanenkrat; and a brother-in-law, Edwin E. Wallace.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, in Altavista Memorial Park by the Rev. Troy McGahan and Rev. Earnie Lucas.
