Elaine Wills Steele

Linda Elaine Wills Steele, 85, of Rustburg, died Sunday, September 13, 2026, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Rudolph Lee Steele, Sr.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 30, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Lynn Franklin Wills, Sr. and Ruth Byrd Hart Wills.

Elaine was a devout Christian and was a member and pianist at Jubilee Baptist formerly, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She loved her flower garden and animals, especially her wild birds. She retired from Lynchburg Training School as a Physical therapist aide.

She is survived by two sons, Rudolph L. “Scooter” Steele, Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Randall S. “Red” Steele; two grandchildren, Jessica Hollon and husband, Anthony and Christopher Hargis and Lauren Roach; a great grandson, William Hollon; a sister, Teresa Gipson; special friends, Kathy Colbird and Michelle Dobson; and many sisters-in-las, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death a son, Roger Dale Steele; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Steele; and five brothers, Lynn F. “Sonny” Wills, Jr., Richard M. “Dickie” Wills, David A. Wills, Roy S. Wills, and Mark Wills.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Jubilee Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Roger Childress.

The family will receive friends at Jubilee Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
