Gladstone: Effie Phelps Moses, 89, died Monday, January 22, 2007 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was twice married her first husband was the late Lee Monroe Wright, her second husband is Charlie Carl Moses.
Born in Bedford County, November 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late John Davis and Dorothy Mason Phelps. Effie was a very active and longtime member of Maple Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and was a member of the WMU. She retired from the Appomattox Garment Factory and was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
In addition to her husband, Carl she is survived by a sister, Castell P. Garrett of Spout Spring and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary P. Wright and four brothers, Roy, Charlie, John and Calvin Phelps.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in Maple Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Bryant and the Rev. John Franklin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 7-8:30 pm.
