Edward I. “Buster” Frazier, 92, of Rustburg, VA, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Mary Maddox Frazier for over 70 years.
Born in Rustburg, VA, on May 16, 1933, he was the 13th of 14 children born to the late Hessie Keesee and John Ocie Frazier, Sr. Edward was a lifelong member of Rustburg United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #16 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Edward retired from Craddock Terry Shoe Company. He was a Charter Member of the Rustburg Ruritan Club and a Charter Member of the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was current president for the Rustburg Camp of Woodmen of the World.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Michael E. Frazier and wife, Gina of Leesburg, Florida, and Judy F. Martin and husband, Doyle of Appomattox; two grandchildren, Carrie Hancock and husband, James, and Hannah Frazier; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Hancock, Jamie Hancock, and Liam McMillen; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by eight sisters, Karissa Davidson, Helen Wood, Mildred Williams, Louise Coleman, Pearl Cyrus, Julia Cyrus, Emma Sue Rector, and Kathleen “Jon” Bagby; and five brothers, Lloyd Frazier, Herman Frazier, Louis Frazier, J. O. “Junior” Frazier Jr., and Clarence “Bill” Frazier.
A funeral will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Rustburg United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Dr. Cecelia Brooks with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #16. Burial will follow in Cumbie Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the Rustburg Ruritan Club for a reception and visitation.
