Edward "Eddie" Holmes Ferguson, 86, of Appomattox passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Babcock Manor.
Born in Appomattox on June 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Edward Iverson Ferguson and Viola Smtih Ferguson Mayberry. Eddie was a hard worker and loved his family. He was lovingly known by his friends as "Hoo Hoo". He worked for Pierce and Johnson Lumber Co. Eddie loved going to church and attended Bible Baptist Church where he sported his suspenders every Sunday. He gave Pastor Jonathan his first pair of suspenders.
He is survived by his nephew and caregiver, Kenneth Henderson and wife, Janice; and two sisters, Leola "Tootsie" Henderson and Virginia Saville both of Lynchburg.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Carter and husband, James, Alma Almond and husband, George, Shirley Childress and husband, Pie, Merlie Reynolds, and baby sister, Helen Ruth; brother, Norman Leroy Ferguson; stepfather, Willis Mayberry; and brothers-in-law, Alfred Henderson and Robert Saville.
A funeral service will be held 2pm, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Watson and Rev. Jerry Childress officiating. A private burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Babcock Manor that loved on Eddie especially Pat House and Georgia and to James River Hospice.
