Obituary

Edna Margie Harris Coleman, 78, of Coleman's Mill Road, Gladstone, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Samuel R. Coleman, Jr.

Born in Greenville, Tenn., on June 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lydia Margaret Randolph and Luther Robert Harris. She was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church. Edna was the family matriarch and found great joy in focusing on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She was a lifelong learner and loved reading, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by two devoted children, Margie L. Coleman of Appomattox and Samuel Robert Coleman and wife, Susan T. of Oak Hill; four grandchildren, Michael Luther Coleman and fiancé, Angel Warren, Wesley Samuel Coleman, Allison Gray Coleman, and Emma Grace Coleman; great-grandson, Charles Ron "Charlie" Coleman; and three sisters and a brother, Gladys H. Morris of Appomattox, Josephine (Daisy) Shumaker of Brookneal, C. C. (Hobert) Harris of Farmville, and Roxie H. Nester of Lynchburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Robert C. Wilson. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 4 until 6 p.m. and other times at the residence.
