Edith Megginson Williams, 91, of Appomattox, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, on June 24, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Samuel T. Megginson, Jr., and Virginia Spradlin Megginson. Edith was a 1936 graduate of Pamplin High School and a retired Seamstress from Amelia Dress Co.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, the AARP, and a past member of the Young Hearts.
She is survived by five children; Patricia W. Doctor and husband Bobby of Quinton; George S. Williams, Jr., and wife Lois of Appomattox, Donald L. (Duck) Williams and wife Annette of Appomattox, Robert D. Williams, Sr. of Spout Spring; and John T. (Plicky)Williams, and wife Mary of Appomattox; two brothers, John W. Megginson and Wallace R. Megginson and wife Margaret all of Appomattox; one sister, Jean M. Nash of Brandon, Miss.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, C. E. (Bo) Phelps of Crew; and sister-in-law Edythe M. Megginson of Appomattox.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Patricia Davidson for the care she gave their mother.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette W. Drinkard; four sisters, Molly Megginson, Lucy M. Gilliam, Nancy M. Hughs, Anna M. Phelps; and one brother, Riley T. Megginson.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Grooms. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive Monday at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of Plicky and Mary Williams.
