Edgar Allen Baldwin, Jr., 84, of New Chapel Rd., Spout Spring, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Jessie Williamson Baldwin for 66 years.
Born in Pamplin, February 18, 1925, he was a son of the late Sally Harris and Edgar Allen Baldwin, Sr. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Bob White Lodge at Hat Creek. Allen retired from Mead Corporation and later worked for the Archer Creek Lynchburg Foundry.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, E. A. Baldwin, III and wife, Mechelle of Spout Spring and Bobby Baldwin and fiancée, Karen Littles of Brookneal; a daughter, Barbara Temples and husband, Larry of Pompano Beach, FL; a sister, Sally Baldwin DeHart and husband, Al of Rustburg; six grandchildren, Jamie Bayne, Ann Conner and husband, Adam, Kristy Lee, Robbie Childress and husband, Jay, Mikayla Baldwin, and Nicole Baldwin; four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Nickolaus, and Olivia Smith, and Brice Conner; uncle and aunt, Wilson Baldwin and Flonnie Baldwin; sister-in-law, Minnie Baldwin of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Marie Guthrie Baldwin and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hart Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Union Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Jonathan Geldmaker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Friday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm and other times at the residence.
