Eddie Lewis Carter, 65, of Forest, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was married for 44 years to Janice Gobble Carter.
Born in Appomattox County, March 30, 1942, he was son of Katherine McCormick Carter of Spout Spring and the late Frank Wesley Carter. Eddie served his country as a member of the Marine Reserves for 6 years. He retired from Limitorque Corporation after 32 years service, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the AFL CIO, and was active in the democrat party. Eddie loved working in his yard, Chevrolet's and sports, especially NASCAR racing.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a son, Forrest Greg Carter and his wife, Donna of Powhatan; two daughters, Sylvia Carter of Forest and Sharon Luther and her husband, Ken of Toledo, OH; a sister, Barbara Layne of Appomattox; six grandchildren, Zoe, Caleb, and Candace Carter and Derek, Sarah and Mark Luther.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Wayne (Sonny) Carter and a sister, Wanda Kay Shipp.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am., Thursday, June 7, 2007 in New Hope Baptist Church by the Pastors Marvin Suitt, Charles Harbin, and Tommy Hicks with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
