Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel Earl Lawrence "Rob" Robinson (Ret.), 85, of Appomattox, VA, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Carol Ann Ellington Robinson.

Born in Watertown, NY, on May 26, 1940, he was the son of the late Eleanor Guay Robinson and the late Lawrence Roy Robinson. He graduated from Sacket High School and received a bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University. He served in the U.S Army for 21 years and retired as an Army Lieutenant Colonel. During his military service he received the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal (10LC), Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class, Meritorious Service Medal (20LC), Army Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Legion of Merit, and the Army Service Ribbon. Following his service, Rob managed a law office in Roanoke, VA for 15 years. He loved Civil War History, gardening, golfing, and his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Douglas Robinson and wife, Elke, David Robinson and wife, Deirdre, Nora Robinson, and Sarah Woodyard and husband, Luke; eleven grandchildren, Jens, Til, Henry, Paul, Claire, Adeline, Joey, Ronnie, Audrey, Ginny, and Charlotte; two sisters, Sheila Venezia ad Ruth Blackburn and husband, Gene; and one sister-in-law, Kathe Robinson.

He was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Wayne; and one brother, John Robinson.
