Appomattox: Edwin Thurston "Ned" Stanley, Sr., died Saturday morning, February 24, 2007, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Clara Bell Williamson Stanley.
Born December 4, 1920 in Appomattox Co., he was a son of the late William Harrington and Emma Ferguson Stanley. Corporal E.T. Stanley served his country during WW II in the U. S. Army where he was an Anti Aircraft Machine Gunner serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Ned was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Evergreen Hunt Club and was a retired employee of Appomattox Diary Supply.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Whitten and her husband, Bob, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and a son, Donald Stanley and his wife Tammy of Appomattox; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Edwin T. (Hoss) Stanley, Jr., a granddaughter, Kristi Lynn Stanley, six brothers and four sisters.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 26, 2007 at Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Rusty Small with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 104 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 PM today and other times at his residence.
