Emmett Howard Johnson, 94, of Appomattox died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in the Masonic Home of Virginia. He was the husband of the late Irma Price Johnson.
Born in Charlotte County, March 25, 1914, he was a son of the late Lynnwood and Sallie Ramsey Johnson. Howard retired from the Appomattox Hardware and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Southside Masonic Lodge #191 A.F. & A. M.
He is survived by two daughters, Elsie J. Burrell and Betty J. Elliott and her husband, Charles L. all of Appomattox; a son, Lawrence Howard Johnson and wife, Eleanor of Pamplin; a brother, William (Billy) E. Johnson of Farmville; three grandchildren, Steve Burrell of Appomattox, Teresa Dunn and husband, Nick of Keysville, and Linwood Elliott and wife, Debbie of Appomattox and five great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edward I. Burrell; a sister, Lucy; and five brothers, George, Witt, Robert, Carroll, and Otis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Pastor Johnny Covington. Burial will follow in Pamplin Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of his son, Lawrence Johnson.
