II Timothy 4:7-8 reads: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Duvall Franklin McCormick, 81, of Oakville Road, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Judy Anita McCormick.
Born February 4, 1936, he was a son of the late Effie Word Jamerson and William Walker McCormick. Duvall was a faithful member of Eastbrook Baptist Church and loved to encourage young people to serve the Lord.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Litchford (Charles), Theodora Woody, Shelia McCormick (David), Cindy Anthony (Lewis), one step daughter, Eva Marie Burnett (Forrest); one brother, Floyd Lee McCormick; a sister, Peggy Marie Robertson; ten grandchildren, Clarissa Hogan, Lori Porter, Charlie Litchford, Joseph Litchford,Jr., Connie Jo Layne, Whitney Litchford, David McCormick, Jr., Lana Fulford, Johnathan Woody, Christopher Woody; one step grandchild, Paige Burnett; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Marie Fitzgerald McCormick; a brother, Alton Walker McCormick; four sisters, Helen Gunter, Louise Honaker, Virginia Lee Woody and Vera Cunningham.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Eastbrook Baptist Church, 3050 Eastbrook Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, with Rev. Curtis Walkup, Rev. Tommy Bryant, and Rev. Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., at the McCormick Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
