Druscilla Wright Shelton, 85, of Bear Creek Rd., Red House, died Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Chase City Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Shelton was the wife of the Late Russell M. "Red" Shelton.
Born in Chapel Hill, NC, July 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Verda Wright, and the step-daughter of Sadie Clark Wright. She attended both Rocks Baptist and Providence Baptist Churches and worked as a seamstress for the Appomattox Garment Company.
She is survived by one daughter, Frieda S. Marston of Red House; two sons, Steven D. Shelton of Red House, and David L. Shelton of Hopewell; two brothers, Leonard L. Wright, and James D. Wright both of Chapel Hill, NC; one sister, Martha Thompson of Charleston, SC; 8 grandchildren. Jeff Fulton, Rusty Fulton, Tammie Lowe, Mark Marston, Shannon Cook, Hope Lucado, Mendie Shelton, Stevie Shelton, 7 Step-grandchildren, Jimmy Marston, Wayne Marston, Rhonda Link, Keith Shelton, Timothy Shelton, Glenda Cunningham, Carol Hawkins; 35 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by three sons, Robert Shelton, Rudy Shelton, and Karl "Ronnie" Shelton; two sisters, Helen York, Frances H. Seckler, and two brothers. William C. Wright, and Garland Wright.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Robinson Funeral Home, by Rev. Alden Hicks.
The family will receive friends from 7- 8:30 pm Monday evening, August 24, 2009, and other times at the home of her daughter Frieda at 750 Bear Creek Rd.
