Douglas O'Steele Doss, Sr. died peacefully at his home on Telephone Avenue, Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife Louise of 64 years and his family.

Born in Appomattox, April 10, 1930, he was a son of the late Gwendolyn Smoot and Aubrey Lafayette Doss. Doug was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Janice Bryant and husband, Benjamin, Doug Doss, Jr., and wife, Janet, Patricia Wallace and husband, Mike, Steve Doss and wife, Rhonda and Sherri Ferguson all of Appomattox; 10 grandchildren; Ginger, Bennie, Lauren, Melissa, Stacey, Jamie, Jennifer, Edwin, Steven and Sarah; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe W. Doss, and Gene A. Doss; one sister, Peggy D. Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Randolph, Bud, Herman, Horace, Aubrey, Harold, Sam; and two sisters, Nora and Mable.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Troy McGahan Rev. Earnie Lucas and officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
