Dorothy Martin Wilkerson, 84, of Oakville Rd., Appomattox, died Monday night January 27, 2015 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Hubert Lester "Frog" Wilkerson.
Dot was born in Appomattox Co. May 30, 1930 a daughter of the late Drucilla Layne and Charles Edward Martin. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in missions and various ministries of the church.
She is survived by two sons, Charles L Wilkerson and wife, Susan and Dennis Wilkerson and wife, Sherry all of Appomattox; seven grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Jr. and Amy Wilkerson, Matt and Tiffany Wilkerson, Seth and Melissa Wilkerson, Brian and Wendy Wilkerson, Rodney and Lori Wilkerson, Michael and Sara Wilkerson, and Valarie Harrison and Josh; 14 Great-grandchildren, Chris, Abby, Ty, Jessi, Kendall, Donovan, Juliana, Holly, Brady, Jack, Carly, Avery, Camden and Lola; two sister-in-law, Virginia Martin and Edith Martin.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eleanor Cyrus, Annie Day, Evelyn Morris, Frances Martin and three brothers, William, Arthur and Marvin Martin.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Friday January 30, 2015 at Red Oak Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Tom Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 PM today (Thursday) and other times at the homes of Charles and Dennis Wilkerson.
