Obituary
Dorothy Cyrus Sweeney, 78, of Richmond Hwy., Appomattox, died Monday, December 13, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Richard Alvin Sweeney.
Born in Appomattox County, VA, on March 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Ellis and Elizabeth Agnes Mayberry Cyrus. Dorothy was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and a retired floor supervisor for Appomattox Garment Co.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a sister, Mildred C. Mayberry and a brother, Clayton Cyrus and wife, Rosa all of Appomattox.
She was preceded in death by five sisters Carrie Grishaw, Arvis Mayberry, Bertha Grishaw, Bessie Mayberry, and Lucille Mullins and six brothers, Alex, Milton, Harry Herbert, Paul, and Hunter Cyrus.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. John Muth with burial following in the Sweeney Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
