Dorothy Lee Ragland Simmons, 77, of White Pine Dr., Appomattox died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her residence. She was the wife of John Henry Simmons.
Born in Appomattox County, on August 30, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Eva Carrico Ragland Paulette and the late Robert Ragland. Dot was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband Henry, she is survived by five children, Cindy Camper and her husband, David of Kitty Hawk, NC, Ricky Simmons and wife, Ann of Prospect, John Simmons and wife, Kim of Richmond, Renee Moore and husband, Le of Appomattox, and Tanya Robertson and husband, Wade of Richmond; five grandchildren, Karleigh Moore, Carter Simmons, Kirsten Moore, Peyton Simmons, Nixon Robertson and her "first" grandchild, Beth Bollinger; a sister, Shirley Ragland Stanley of Appomattox; a brother, Wayne Paulette and wife, Margaret of Evergreen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise R. Henderson.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm, Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at Evergreen United Methodist Church by the Rev. Herndon Jeffreys and the Rev. Adam Hall. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
