Dorothy Woodson Martin, 98, of the Carrington, died March 31, 2007.
She was born December 16, 1908, in Appomattox County, a daughter of the late Willie Wert Woodson and Ada Cheatham.
While living in Appomattox County, she was employed as a school teacher. She was married to the late Leslie N. Martin, Sr. for sixty years. She and her family moved to Amherst, in 1950, where she lived until she moved to the Carrington. She was of the Baptist faith having attended Reedy Springs Baptist Church in her youth, and later in life attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one devoted daughter, Betty M. Bondurant, and her husband, David, of Lynchburg; four sons, Leslie N. "Dickie" Martin, Jr., of Forest; Fred A. Martin and his wife, Cathy of Rustburg; Willie W. Martin of Madison Heights; Donald L. Martin of Amherst; 12 grandchildren, Tracy Booth and her husband, David of Asheville, NC; Randall Martin and his wife,Sandy of Seaford, Teresa Atkins and her husband, John of Palmyra, Leslie Burgess and her husband, John of Forest, Bridget Bondurant of Harrisonburg, Mary Martin of Rustburg; Jack A. Martin of Chase City; Lani Patrick and her husband, Kenny of Lynchburg; Tony Martin of Madison Heights, Crystal Monark and her husband, Mike of Madison Heights, Tammy Aldridge and her husband, Vic of Lynchburg, Dana McNarama and husband, Ken of Arlington; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister Beatrice Woodson Moffit of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel A. Martin, and a step-daughter, Martha V. Guill.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Davies officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00- 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
