Dorothy Martin Layne, 83, of McKenna Farm Lane, Appomattox, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at her residence. She was the widow of Emmitt Taylor, "E.T." Layne, Jr.
Dorothy was born in Appomattox Co., April 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Lottie Estelle Beard and William Lewis Martin. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Layne was a retired Beautician, beginning her career in Rosa Mae Wooldridge's beauty shop and then for thirty years owning and operating Dot's Beauty Shop from her home.
She is survived by a step-son, Donnie Tomlin, and his wife Ann, of Pamplin, three nieces, Patricia Harden, Mary Kat Harden, and Wanda H. Mann, nephews, Thomas Harden, Robert "Bobby" Trent, and devoted neighbors, Payton, Jean, and Tammy Cumbie, all of Appomattox.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Bonnie Kay Layne, and a sister Mary Lottie M. Harden.
It was Mrs. Layne's wishes that there be no services.
