Obituary

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, God saw Dorothy Megginson Harris was weary, and called her from her earthly journey and her loving family to her heavenly home. She was the loving wife of the late Crawford "Doc" Harris for 67 years.

Born in Appomattox, May 12, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Elsie Morgan and John Kirkpatrick Megginson. Dot was a lifetime member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She retired as Cafeteria Manager from Appomattox County Middle School.

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Harris and wife, Elizabeth and Kirk Harris and wife, Linda both of Appomattox; three grandchildren, Nikki Harris of Roanoke, Stephanie Davis and husband, Joe of Concord, and LCDR Erica Harris, PhD, MPH, currently stationed in Singapore and resides with her husband, Daniel Tedesco, in FL; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Joshua Schell; one great-great-granddaughter, Payton Schell; brother-in-law, Douglas and Kathy Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jonathan Paul Schell; one brother, Joseph Megginson, Sr., and two sisters, Elizabeth Megginson Burke, and Jacqueline Megginson Boroughs.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday June 22, 2019 at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. J.R. Megginson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
