Dorothy Lee Garrett Carter, 86, of Second Street, Appomattox, died Friday, August 31, 2018. She was the wife of the late Edwin Carter.

Born in Appomattox, September 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Annie Thompson and Lewis Walker Garrett. Dorothy was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from Courtland Manufacturing.

She is survived by one son, W. Burke "Luke" Paulette of Appomattox; two brothers, Lewis C. Garrett and wife, Mary of Prince George and John Garrett and wife, Brenda of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Cynthia Paulette and her boyfriend, Brett Hall; and one great-grandson, Liam Hall.

A private graveside service will be held at Liberty Cemetery.
