Obituary
Dorothy G. Elder, 91, of Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016. She was the wife of the late George Edward Elder.
Born in Charlotte County, December 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Maxine Deaner and Walter J. Garrison. Dorothy was a member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
She is survived by one son, Donald E. Elder and wife, Lynn Atkinson of Roanoke; two daughters, Cindy E. Schaefer and husband, Randy of Lynchburg and Lindy E. Harris and husband Jeff of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Megan Hotze, Amanda Compton and husband, Anthony "Bear", Ryan White and wife, Jenny, Brad Harris and wife, Abbey; seven great-grandchildren, Asher Hotze, Addison Compton, Ava Compton, Kaley White, Peyton White, Carley Harris and Brody Harris; and a special friend Shirley Gryder of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Madisonville Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. William T. Burleigh officiating.
