Obituary

Doris Aileen Moore, 87, also affectionately known to many as "Nannie" passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at her home in Concord, Va. surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Alfred Mundy (Buster) Moore.

Born in Appomattox County, Va., on May 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Watts Moore Sr. and Ida Grow Moore. Doris was a retired bus driver for Appomattox County Public Schools. After the death of her husband, she spent her days farming with her son, Timmy Moore, until her decline in health.

She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 77 years. She was a faithful member of the church choir, the Willing Workers Sunday School class and the UMW. She shared her love for Jesus through playing her guitar and singing.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Moore Stallings and husband Joseph Larry Stallings of Belvidere, N. C.; her son, Timothy A. Moore and wife Jeanette Clark Moore; three granddaughters, Wendy Stallings Lewis and husband Jim, Kristie Stallings Harris and husband Kevin, and Kelsey Moore Marshall and husband Adam; seven great-grandchildren, Jay, Cody, Judah, Jordan, and Gunnar Lewis, Kara and Kendall Harris. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a special family member, Chad Moore.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Lyle, Marvin, Jr., and Virgil Moore and sisters, Betty Sue Tweedy and Virgilia Tuck.

A celebration service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Lewis, Rev. Larry Mann, Rev. Robert Thorne, Rev. Tom Walker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her son, Timmy Moore.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Centra Hospice and their team and especially Tina Dionne, RN for her love and care for Doris, and Dr. Kim Wright for her compassion and concern.
