Obituary

Doris Ailein Driskill Stanley, 82, of Oakdale Dr., died Friday morning, Nov. 14, 2008 at Virginia Baptist Hospital following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Joseph Henry Stanley.
Born in Lynchburg on August 11, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Willie Hicks and Clyde Lile Driskill, Sr. She attended Timberlake United Methodist Church and retired following more than 30 years of service with Leggett.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert Kent Stanley and his wife, Barbara, Lynchburg; two daughters, Peggie Sue Simpson and her husband, Wayne, Appomattox and Jo Anne Burnette and her husband, Bill, Lynchburg; two brothers, Robert Earl Driskill and his special friend, Fay Turner, Lynchburg and Clyde Lile Driskill, Jr., and his wife, Frances, Richmond; a sister-in-law, Lucille S. Dowdy, Farmville; two brothers-in-law, Herbert Stanley and Preston Wilkerson, both of Richmond.
"Memaw" also had six grandchildren; Brandon Kent Stanley, Robert Scott Stanley, Christopher Neal Simpson, Lori Beth Simpson and her fiancé, Chris Anderson, William Travis Burnette and Carley Jo Burnette; and one Great grand daughter, Kaleigh Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances D. Herncall and Ruth D. Wilkerson, and one brother, Daniel H. Driskill.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 17, 2008 in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Tom Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, today (Sunday) at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox, and other times at her residence.
