Appomattox: Donna Jean Straley Scott, 67, died peacefully at home Friday Morning, February 3, 2006. She was the wife of James M. Scott, Jr.
Born in Princeton, Illinois, January 7, 1939, she was a daughter of the late I. W. and Vivian Straley. Mrs. Scott retired from Centra Health, was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Appomattox, a member of the Lynchburg Newcomers Club, and the North Denver and Lynchburg M. O. T. C. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle and loved to crochet.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by a son, Brian L. Scott and wife, Laura of Lynchburg; two daughters, Debra Milburn and husband, Mike of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Carol Schroeder and husband, Don of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Loy Glenn of Houston, TX, Starr Glenn of Bella Vista, Ark., and Kristy Scott of Lynchburg; three step grandchildren, Christy Boiser and Michael Milburn of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kelly Milburn of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Frances Newberry; a brother, Richard Straley and wife, Sarah all of Denver, Colo.; several nieces and nephews and a special canine companion, Rocky.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Scott.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 11, 2006, at Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Daniel Dockery and the Rev. Glen Coleman. A reception for the family and friends will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
