Donna Wright Johnson, 77, of Appomattox, died Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Appomattox Health and Rehab.  She was the loving wife of the late Fred Donald "Bookie" Johnson.

Born in Buckingham County, Va., on January 16, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Lelia Adcock Wright and Roy Banks Wright.  Donna was a member of Bible Baptist Church for over 60 years where she sang in the church quartet, choir member, and was a Sunday School teacher. Donna enjoyed painting, making smocked outfits, doing alterations and being a hairdresser.

She is survived by three children, Kathy Parris and husband, Donald, Susan Smith and husband, Doug, and Paul Johnson and wife, Tamara; five sisters, Hope Lankford, Shirley Tomlin, Rosalie Mitchell, Ruth Trent and husband, Joel and Melva Ayers and husband, Robert; eight grandchildren, Donna Parris John and husband, Phil, Kathlyn Parris Wade and husband, Seth, Seth Parris, Nichole Smith Horn and husband, Matt, Noelle Smith Hunt and husband, Sam, Austin Smith and wife, Fel, Holly Johnson Morongell and husband, Scott, and Hunter Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren, Cameron Cox, Caleb Wade, Lorelei Wade, Everly Wade, Cora Wade, Easton John, Taylor John, Lelia John, Luke Horn, Aubrey Horn, Jack Morongell and Georgia Morongell; three sisters-in-law, Clarice "Speedy" Wright, Helen "Sis" Pierce and Edna Mae Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, June, Monroe and Melvin Wright; and eight sisters, Pauline Bryant, Dorothy McCormick, Hallie Cunningham, Naomi Banes, Hazel Wright, Grace Maddox, Evelyn Wright and Bessie Shelton.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Robert E. Lee and Pastor Jerry Boyce officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Herman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 6 p.m., Wednesday October 19, 2022, and Thursday October 20, 2022, at her residence and Friday, October 21, 2022, at Robinson Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
