Obituary

Donald Ray Pulliam, 66, of 2248 Police Tower Rd., Appomattox, died February 12, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital following a courageous battle with COPD and Emphysema. He was the husband of Janice (Sue) Giles Pulliam.
Born in Appomattox County, March 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Ida Blanche Davidson Pulliam, and the late William Harvey Pulliam. He was a member of Appomattox Courthouse Presbyterian Church and had retired as a Superintendant with V.D.O.T. with over 35 years of service. After retiring, he worked several years delivering parts for NAPA. Also he was a member of Masonic Lodge #307 AF and AM, where he served as a past Worshipful Master. As well as a member of American Legion Post 104 and the Moose Lodge. Donald was an avid fan of NASCAR, enjoyed hunting and was known as a loving, caring and generous man. He served his country during Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by a son Brian Ray Pulliam and friend Melissa Giles and their son, known as Donald's special "Little Man", his grandson, Austin Ray Pulliam; one sister, Dorothy P. Hood and her husband Paul of Lynchburg; a loving mother-in-law, Georgia Giles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Pulliam.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, February 15, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Cameron Smith and Rev. Frank Avery, with burial to be held in Liberty Cemetery. Military rites accorded by American Legion Post # 104 and VFW# 9855 combined honor guard.
Family will receive friends February 15, 2010, at 1:00 pm until the time of service and other times at the residence.
