Donald Ray Giles, 78, of Spout Spring passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Appomattox on January 31, 1945, he was the son of the late L E Giles, Jr., and Georgia Hamilton Giles. He was a member of the Appomattox Moose Lodge, Reedy Creek Hunt Club, and was a former member of Appomattox Fire Department. Donald was a member of Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Velleca (John Goin) and Jenny Lou Martin (Mike) both of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Christopher Mayberry, Heather King (Jarred), Rachel Franklin (Josh), and Brandon White (Sommar Moore); and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne M. Giles of Rustburg, and Dennis A. "Tic" Giles (Jennifer) of Appomattox; one sister, Sue Pulliam (Ernest Hines) of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Dot Fleshman and husband, Gary of Appomattox.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Lee Giles; brother-in-law, Donald Pulliam; and sister-in-law, Dot Giles.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Childress officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
