Donald Edward "Sonny" Martin, Jr., 51, of Richmond Highway, Pamplin, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Lynchburg, March1, 1968, he was a son of the late Brenda Fulcher and Evan Thompson. He worked as a counselor at the Boca Raton Treatment Center.

In addition to his father he is survived by a daughter, Summer Ann Martin and her mother, Chastity Franklin of Appomattox; one brother, William Evan Thompson and wife, Allison of Appomattox; one sister, Contadina Thompson Ashwell and husband, Brandon of Pamplin; aunts, Shirley Tyree, Sue Fulcher and Lewis Mann, Barbara and Fred Williams, Cotton and Bryon Crist, Sheila and Todd Roach, Judy Huff, and Virginia Rowland; uncles, George Fulcher and Cindy, Robert Thompson and Lynn; nieces and nephews, Tristan Ashwell, Cheyenne, Jovie, and Bryce Thompson; and numerous cousins including a special cuz, Lee Scruggs.

A memorial service will be held 5 p.m., Saturday April 20, 2019 at Love and Truth Community Church, 3135 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501, with Rev. Fred Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
