Obituary

Don Franklin Jimison, 86, of Edgewood Street, Appomattox, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Runk and Pratt, Forest. He was the husband of the late Dorothy White Jimison.

Born in McConnell, West Va., on May 21, 1930, he was a son of the late Marie Harless and S. E. Jimison. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Don was a former basketball coach, teacher, and school principal in several locations prior to moving to Appomattox in 1975 to become the manager of Holiday Lake 4-H Education Center for 10 years. He then went on to work for McGregor Golf and managed two golf courses before retiring in Appomattox.

He is survived by his son, John Frederick Jimison and his wife, Victoria of Henrico; two granddaughters, Katherine Rose "Katie" Jimison and Lucinda Violet "Lucy" Jimison; and a sister, Eldred J. Satterfield of Asheboro, N. C.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 in Liberty Baptist Church by the Dr. Rusty Small. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017.
