Dolores Tatum Thompson, 87, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Valley View Assisted Living. She was the wife of the late Mickie Thompson.
Born in Lena, Louisiana on September 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Bonnie Hobson and Jackson Beebe. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she had served as church treasurer and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class and the Methodist Women. Dolores worked as a secretary at Fort Monroe in the Chief Staff Building until moving to Appomattox. She then worked for DCAS in quality control inspection at Babcock and Wilcox and American Hoffman.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Hayes and husband, Jimmy; three grandchildren, Jimmy Hayes Jr., and wife, Barbie, Michael Hayes and wife, Jennifer and Ashley Cobb and husband, Jacob; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Christian, Jack, Wyatt, Casey and Marley.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Thompson, III, one brother, and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
