Appomattox: Dillard Reed, 91, of Rt. 5 died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Homer Mann Reed.
Born in Appomattox County, July 20, 1914, he was a son of the late Henry Albert and Mary Ellen Mann Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church, a retired farmer and employee of Falwell Truck Body, and an US Army Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by two step-sons and their wives, James Void and Patsy Mann of Clarksville and Elmo Wilson and Patsy Mann of Concord; one step-daughter and her husband, Thama and Fred Elder of Appomattox; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; a foster granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews and a loving friend and caregiver, Love Foster.
He was preceded by a brother, Willard Reed and five sisters, Clara Mayberry, Ruby Garrett, Carrie Mann, O'dell Mayberry and Rosa Repass.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald Martin with burial following in Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of Elmo W. and Patsy Wilson.
