Dierdre Ann Tweedy, departed this life on August 7, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD.
She was born in Lynchburg, May 26, 1959, nine minutes after her twin brother, to the late Clifton W. Tweedy and Emma C. Tweedy Jones. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne T. Tweedy.
Dierdre was a 1977, graduate of Appomattox County High School and a 1983, graduate of Norfolk State University with a B. A. in Economics. She had been employed in many positions with CMG Health, Humana Group Health, Mutual of Omaha, Pennsylvania Manufacturing Association Insurance Co., Sierra Military Health Service, Maryland Insurance Administration, and for a brief time served as President of Claims Assistant Professional Plus. Her last position was Quality Monitor for D. B. Consulting Group, Inc. in Silver Spring, MD.
Dierdre was reared in St. Luke's Baptist Church as a child and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Frederick, MD.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Clifford J. Tweedy of Frederick, MD and a foster son, William Merchant; three brothers, Walter W. Tweedy of Frederick, MD, Elliott L. Tweedy of Randallstown, MD and her twin, Derek A. Tweedy of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Oris V. Patrick of Tampa, FL and Marva T. Thornton of Pamplin; brothers-in-law, James B. Patrick and Robert M. Thornton; sister-in-law, Margaret W. Tweedy; uncle, Smith Tweedy of Baltimore, MD; aunts, Mary Elliott of Philadelphia, PA and Flossie Ford of Randallstown, MD; nephews, James and Clifton Patrick, Wayne Tweedy, Jr. Phillip Tweedy, Ashton Terry; and nieces, SFC Lorinda Thornton, Letitia (Antoine) White, Patrice and Stacey Tweedy, Alicia Blakey, Chiquita Nellums; and a great niece, Brianna White.
A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at St. Luke Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dews officiating, Rev. Lewis Watson as eulogist, Rev. Rickey Smith and Rev. Rodney Henry assisting. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. and other times at the home of Robert and Marva Thornton, Forest Chapel Rd., Pamplin.
