Derek Anthony Tweedy departed this life on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at University Medical Center. He was a resident of Baltimore, Md. and the son of the late Clifton and Emma Tweedy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Tweedy, Sr. and his twin sister, Dierdre Ann Tweedy.

He attended Appomattox High School prior to joining the United States Marine Corp. Derek accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age.

Derek leaves to cherish his memory a devoted friend, Deloris Mims of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Walter Tweedy(Margaret) of Concord, Va. and Elliott Tweedy of Windsor Mill, Md.; two sisters, Oris Patrick(James) of Tampa, Fla. and Marva Thornton(Robert) of Pamplin, Va.; and extended family and friends in Virginia and Maryland. A special thanks to all who have been a part of his life and loved him.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at St. Luke Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dews officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and at other times at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Marva and Robert Thornton.
