Dennis Edward Wilkerson, 71, of Appomattox, VA, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sherry Covington Wilkerson for 53 years.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on February 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Dorothy Martin Wilkerson and the late Hubert Lester Wilkerson. He attended Mount Comfort Methodist Church. Dennis retired from BWXT after 31 years of service and was a life member and president of Agee Hunt Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Brian Wilkerson and wife, Wendy, Rodney Wilkerson and wife, Lori, Michael Wilkerson, and Valarie Harrison and husband, Josh; eleven grandchildren, Juliana, Holly, Camden, Jack, Brady, Lola, Carly, Avery, Donovan, Danielle, and Easton; one sister-in-law, Susan Jennings Wilkerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles L. Wilkerson, and granddaughter, Harper Grace Harrison.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Mount Comfort Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Wyatt Cudd and Rev. John Flood. A private family burial will take place in Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
