Obituary
Dennis Wayne Stanley, 56, of Oakleigh Ave., Appomattox, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at his residence. He was the husband of Cathy D. Stanley.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on December 1, 1954, he was the son of the late William Russell and Barbara Ann Gilbert Stanley. Dennis was a 1973 graduate of Appomattox County High School, a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church, and a diehard fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He loved travel, woodworking, hunting, western movies and dogs.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two step children, William Randall Powell of Shreveport, LA and Krystina Antoinette Powell of Lynchburg; a most precious granddaughter, Kourtney Antoinette Carter; his mother-in-law, Genevieve Page and Clyde B. Thompson of Lynchburg and St. Cloud, FL; three sisters-in-law; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other family members.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1030 Oakville Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.
