Dennis F. McCormick, Sr., 82, of Bent Creek, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Dennis was born on June 8, 1935, in Appomattox County, Va., to the late Frank and Tiny McCormick. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and was owner and operator of D. F. McCormick's store for many years in the Bent Creek Community. When not working at the store he enjoyed NASCAR racing, wrestling, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Jean B. McCormick; son, Dennis F. McCormick, Jr. and wife, Renessa; daughter, Sheri M. McCormick and husband, B. D.; four grandchildren, Kimberly McCormick (Jesse), Kyle McCormick (Samantha) , Kevin McCormick, and Dakota McCormick; step-grandchild, Jessica Palacios; three great-grandchildren, Mark, Luke and Gabrian; a brother, Frank McCormick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his great-granddog, Harley.

In addition to his parents, one brother, Randolph McCormick, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 2 p.m., at Maple Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service and other times at his home, Oakville Road, Gladstone.
